Novak Djokovic defeated Feliciano Lopez 6-2 6-3 on Thursday in 71 minutes.
From 2-2 in the first set, Djokovic won the next five games for a 6-2, 1-0 lead.
In the second set, he raced to a 4-1 lead before Lopez went through the motions of winning his next two service games before surrendering.
Djokovic, who posted six aces in the match, won the final game at love, with the 30-0 and 40-0 points being two of those aces.
“You can’t just expect to win all the time very comfortable, but I’ve been doing so for the last week and a half,” said Nole. “Obviously, it’s giving me more confidence. Any time I come back to the court, I feel good and I start off well.”
Nole is confident he can do better: “I was brought up that way and (think) to always look for some room for improvement”. “I still believe there are shots in my game that can be better. I think that’s one of the things that keeps me going.”
Djokovic’s quarterfinal opponent will be Australian Bernard Tomic and going into that Novak leads 4-0. Tomic came through a late-night nail-biter against Richard Gasquet 6-3, 6-7, 6-4.
