Novak Djokovic defeated Sam Querrey 6-3, 6-2, 6-2 to secure a spot in the fourth round.
Djokovic raced to a 5-0 lead in the first set in just 15 minutes, and the 26-year-old Querrey could not recover. The top seed broke Querrey’s serve early in each set, and the first two sets were in the books in just 53 minutes.
“I played very solid, from the first to the last point,” said Djokovic. “I am thrilled.”
“So far, so good,”. “The performances in all three rounds are no less than I wanted, expected and hoped that I could play. Sam is a big server and has a very powerful game. I had to move him around the court – he’s a big guy, doesn’t move so well. Of course at the tournament progresses the opponents will be tougher, but I am ready.”
The sharp top seed dominated in all facets of the game: he broke serve 7 of 12 tries and won 89 points to just 57 for Querrey.
He will face next Kohlschreiber.
